The pale blue centre is based in the industrial zone where there is a large migrant population who come to the area looking for work. The community is very transient and unstable. The area has big problems with gangs and human trafficking.
Sewing training and women’s groups are helping to transform the community. Education and feeding programmes assist the children in their chances of passing exams and growing. Because there are so many gangs in this area, there’s a football club on a Saturday morning for young boys, to keep them off the streets. There is also a “walking bus” that allows the children to come to and from the centre safely and an indoor playground for safe play.
Creative education – for those not yet, or for whatever reason not attending school, children are taught how to think creatively, receive skills in decision making and learn basic education.
After School Tuition – after school tuition helps children with their homework to stop them from falling behind in their school education.
Feeding Programme – the feeding programme gives nutritious food to children and a meal for the adults when they come together as a large group.
Indoor Playground – for children to play safely and to avoid human trafficking.
Women’s Groups -women’s groups empower local women to improve their own lives and the lives of their community. With a safe place to learn about hygiene, receive anti-violence training, learn how to start a small business, start savings and loans programmes to improve the family income and future prospects and to have a voice in their community.
Football Club – For youth who would otherwise be involved in gang culture.
Sewing Programme – the sewing programme teaches women how to make clothing. During the course, they also enrol and complete a discipleship course. Once their training has finished, they are free to join the women’s groups and many go on to start their own small home-based business.
Small-Group – This is a place where the community is built. People get to discuss deep issues, eat together and support one another.
Sunday Meeting – All people are welcome to come to the Sunday meetings, to meet, eat and learn together.
