About the dark blue centre:

The dark blue centre is situated in the industrial zone where many migrant workers come to find work.  There are few prospects here for those who have little education of experience.  As a consequence, many people are out of work leading to a high crime rate and violence.

The dark blue’s focus is to provide skills training to men and women, in order to improve chances of employment in the area. Children’s programmes  provide informal education and after school tuition to keep them progressing through their education.  The feeding programme caters to the children’s nutritional requirements. A safe, large indoor play area keeps the children from harm and potential trafficking.

Women are able to meet as groups to be empowered. To learn skills to start new businesses, to learn how to save and budget money and to learn about health and hygiene.

Creative education – for those not yet, or for whatever reason not attending school, children are taught how to think creatively, receive skills in decision making and learn basic education.
After School Tuition – after school tuition helps children with their homework to stop them falling behind in their school education.
Feeding Programme – the feeding programme gives nutritious food to children and a meal for the adults when they come together as a large group.
Safe Playground – a safe playground allows children to play together without fear of being trafficked or injured.
Women’s Groups -women’s groups empower local women to improve their own lives and the lives of their community.  With a safe place to learn about hygiene, receive anti-violence training, learn how to start a small business, start savings and loans programmes to improve the family income and future prospects and to have a voice in their community.
Computer Training – computer training for young adults gives a competitive edge to their skill set when applying for jobs when they leave school.
Sewing Programme – the sewing programme teaches women how to make clothing. During the course they also enrol and complete a discipleship course.  Once their training has finished, they are free to join the women’s groups and many go on to start their own small home-based business.
